Waterfront Opens June 19th at 10am and closes August 13th.
Braintree’s two waterfronts, Sunset Lake in South Braintree and G. Murray Smith Beach in East Braintree are scheduled to open ready for visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th.
The Board of Health and your parks and recreation department are committed to providing clean, healthy waterfronts and will take whatever steps needed so that Sunset Lake can again attract thousands of patrons during our summer season.
The sailing classes will be held this summer through the auspices of a grant received from the Braintree Yacht Club and youngsters will be welcomed to come down to the lake with their parents beginning Monday, June 21st to June 23rd to sign up and take part in this program.
The public does need to remember that dogs, whether leashed or unleashed, will not be permitted into the beachfront area at any time.
Glass containers of any sorts cannot be brought to the beach.
A review of the waterfront's rules and regulations in this brochure will be helpful in keeping the sun bathers and swimmers alike happy with a clean and safe environment all summer long.
A full staff of Red Cross certified waterfront personnel will be on duty daily until closing on August 13th. A visit with the lifeguards can provide information about any sailing classes being scheduled for the children of Braintree.
A game of beach volleyball or just grabbing a great summer tan is awaiting those who make Sunset Lake and Smith Beach their place to visit this summertime in Braintree.
The lakefront beach area was completely refurbished eight years ago and Smith Beach seven summers ago thanks to generous state-funded grants.
A Fore River “Francis Toland Riverfront Walk” natural trail connects the beach to Watson Park for those out for a stroll at one of Braintree’s prettiest locations.
The waterfronts are again alive, safe and ready for YOU!
Join us with the exciting new Sunset Lake Gazebo funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for concerts every Tuesday night beginning June 22nd (see concert schedule in this brochure).,
