  • JUNIOR TENNIS LESSONS. Boys and girls ages 5 to 16 and Braintree residents can register at the Recreation Department, 85 Quincy Avenue, beginning Monday, June 10, 2019, 9:00am to 6:30pm, on a first come basis. Thereafter, registration is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Recreation Office. WALK-IN REGISTRATION ONLY. THERE IS NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION..............PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED. Classes will be run by certified tennis professionals from the Weymouth Club. Monday/Wednesday classes will meet from 9am - 12pm. Tuesday/Thursday classes will meet from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. All lessons will be structured by age, ability and ball type. Red Ball for ages 5 - 8; Orange Ball for ages 9 - 10; Green Ball for ages 10 - 12; Yellow Ball for ages 12 - 16. Tennis lessons will be held at the Braintree High School tennis courts. Cost to enroll is $65 each for 8 hours of tennis instruction. Session 1 will begin June 24th and conclude July 18th. Session II will begin on July 22nd and conclude August 15th. Each student must bring their own tennis racquet while tennis balls will be provided. Limited space on a first come basis. Maximum of 12 per class. Schedule is as follows: Red Ball and Orange Ball (M/W: 9:00am - 10:00am and 10:00am - 11:00am; TUE/THU: 4:30pm - 5:30pm); Green Ball (M/W: 11:00am - 12:00pm; Tue/Thu: 5:30pm - 6:30pm); Yellow Ball (TUE/THU: 6:30pm - 7:30pm).
  • PETERSEN SPLASH PAD AT WATSON PARK. The Splash Pad will operate on a regular daily schedule, 10:00am to 6:00pm, beginning Saturday, June 15th through Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd.   NON-BRAINTREE RESIDENTS USING THE  SPLASH PAD MUST PARK THEIR VEHICLES AT THE SMITH BEACH PARKING LOT LOCATED ON EDGEHILL ROAD AND VINEDALE ROAD. ACCESS TO THE SPLASH PAD VIA THE FRANCIS J. TOLAND WALKWAY CONNECTING SMITH BEACH TO WATSON PARK. GROUPS OF TWELVE OR MORE USING THE SPLASH PAD MUST PROVIDE THE RECREATION OFFICE WITH A MINIMUM OF TEN (10) DAYS ADVANCE NOTICE. SCHOOL BUSES ARE REQUIRED TO PARK EITHER IN THE SMITH BEACH PARKING LOT AT THE END OF EDGEHILL ROAD OR IN THE BASEBALL PARKING LOT ON GORDON ROAD.
  • BRAINTREE TRACK CLUB - Open to children in grades K-8. The program will operate Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Braintree High School Track, July 2nd - August 1st from 6:00pm - 7:00pm for kindergarten thru 3rd grade and 7:00pm - 8:00pm for grades 4 thru 8. Registration is by mail until May 31, 2019 at a cost of $32 per child with a family maximum of $80.00. Children pre-registered by May 31st will receive a t-shirt to be picked up at Braintree High School on June 27th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Walk-in registration is the same night, June 27th, Rain or Shine, at Braintree High School. Registration this night will incur a $5.00 late fee per child and are not guaranteed a t-shirt.   • SAIL PLUS MARITIME PROGRAM @WESSAGUSSETT YACHT CLUB - Braintree Recreation in collaboration with the Braintree Yacht Club (BYC), Metropolitan Yacht Club and the Wessagussett Yacht Club (WYC) offers a junior sailing program for Braintree children ages 8 to 16 at the Wessagussett Yacht Club in Weymouth.The sailing program is five (5) days per week for eight (8) weeks, June 24th to August 16th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Each participant will be involved in two activities each day of which one will be sailing. Other activities include: core sailing, sailing advanced, swimming, island exploring, rowing, paddleboarding, harbor ecology, junior lobsterman, kayaking, junior fishing, club regattas, etc. For questions and information about the program, visit WYC's website, www.wyc-online.org or call Program Director Jim Bennette directly at 781-367-8204.
  • FREE FAMILY FUN KIDS DAY 2019 - Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan and the Braintree Recreation Department present the 10th Annual Free Family Fun Kids Day on Wednesday, July 31st, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at French's Common located next to Town Hall. The grills will be heated for hot dogs along with chips, beverages and ice cream. Our DJ will play the music. There will be a bounce house, slip n' slide, face painting, games, activities and fun for all. It's all free. Please join us and enjoy the festivities. Rain date is Thursday, August 1st.   • SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM - SEVEN WEEK PROGRAM BEGINNING JUNE 24TH. OUR SUMMERTIME SPECIAL NEEDS DAY ACTIVITY PROGRAM PROVIDES AN ORGANIZED, HEALTHY RECREATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIFIC SPECIAL NEEDS. PROGRAM WILL BE BASED OUT OF MONATIQUOT SCHOOL AND WILL OPERATE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8:30AM TO 2:30PM. NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM. REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE AND MUST BE COMPLETED AND ON FILE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 14, 2019.
  • BRAINTREE COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER SUMMER FUN WEEKS - Each week will offer arts & crafts, hands on projects and activities for children entering grades 2 to 7 in the Fall, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 2:30pm. Children will be grouped by age. Cost per child is $160.00 per week, payable on-line at the BCAC website, www.braintreecommunityartcenter.com or by check at the art center. Space is limited to 20. Advance registration is required. Lunch is not provided, so children are asked to bring their own lunch, snacks and beverages. SFW#1: July 22nd - July 25th. SFW#2: July 29th - August 1st. SFW#3: August 5th - August 8th. August 12th - August 16th, 9:00am to 12:00pm: "Adventures in Space with Dave Heshion" for children attending grades 1 to 5. Space is limited to 25. Learn about flying, both in and out of the Earth's atmosphere. Find out what it is like to live and work in space. Cost per child is $130.00.     • EARLY REGISTRATION - APRIL 1ST:  On-line registration begins at 12:01am on April 1st for seven separate weeks of Kiddo's Clinic, General Sports Clinic and Field Trippers Clinic starting on Monday, June 24th. Any registration submitted prior to 12:01am on April 1st will not be accepted. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Field Trippers Clinic and the maximum limit being 45 kids each per week, parents may enroll their child in only one (1) Field Trip Clinic during the April on-line registration period starting April 1st. Our intention is to involve as many different children as possible in this fun and exciting travel experience. Once the April registration period is completed, parents are welcome to enroll their child in additional Field Trip Clinics based on availability beginning May 6th either at the Recreation Office or on-line at www.braintreerec.com. Program cost for Kiddo's Clinic and General Sports Clinic is $150.00 per week ($120.00 for the week of July 4th holiday). Program cost for Field Trippers Clinic is $200.00 per week ($160.00 for the week of July 4th holiday).   
    • APRIL VACATION WEEK GENERAL SPORTS CLINIC: APRIL 16TH - APRIL 19TH: After last year's successful pilot program, the Recreation Department is offering a General Sports Clinic program at Daughraty Gym during the April school vacation week, April 16th - April 19th. This is open to children ages 6 to 11 (grades 1 through 5). The maximum limit is 50. Cost of the program is $120.00 and includes snacks and beverages during breaks and lunch each day. Please make us aware of any food allergies that your child may have prior to their participation. Parents should plan on dropping their child off in the morning by 9:00am and picking them up by 3:00pm in the afternoon. On-line registration begins at 12:01am on March 25th. Any registration submitted prior to 12:01am on March 25th will not be accepted. Parents can also register their child at the Recreation Office, 85 Quincy Avenue, 9:00am to 4:00pm beginning March 26th. The deadline for registration is April 12th. Payment can be made by credit card (MC/Visa), cash or check payable to the "Town of Braintree".
  • SOUTH SHORE SUNFISH SWIM AND ADAPTIVE SWIM LESSONS PROGRAM - Program, operated by Braintree resident, Marykate Gawron, offers weekly one-on-one 30 minute swim instruction sessions for the summer months for children ages 18 months to 10 years of age. The lessons may either be private in home lessons or at the instructor's pool in Braintree. Individualized lesson plans included for each child. Children of all abilities are welcome. Cost is $50.00 for the 30 minute session for one child. For additional children at same location, back to back times only, cost is $35.00 for the 30 minute session. Department Description

Provision of recreational programs for all ages including, but not limited to: Summer organized play, summer waterfronts, summer special needs day activities, Sunset Concert Series, Parties In the Park, Independence Day Celebration coordination, Independence Day Celebration Parade coordination, group trips to sporting and cultural events for Braintree families, Learn to Skate Program, Ski/Snowboard Big Blue Program, Slimnastics Program, Judo/JuJitsu Classes, community recreational facility master scheduling, rental and scheduling of Alice Daughraty Gymnasium, youth sports program facilitation.
