SUMMER PROGRAM CLINICS - Kiddo's Clinic, General Sports Clinic and Field Trippers Clinic, will begin on June 26th for six weeks. Information on each program clinic is available on our website. On-line registration begins at 12:01am on June 1st. Any registration submitted prior to 12:01am will not be acepted.
JUNIOR TENNIS LESSONS. BOYS AND GIRLS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 5 AND 16 AND BRAINTREE RESIDENTS ONLY CAN REGISTER AT THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT LOCATED AT 85 QUINCY AVENUE ON JUNE 13th BEGINNING AT 5PM to 6PM. THERE IS NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION..............PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED. CLASSES WILL BE RUN BY CERTIFIED TENNIS PROFESSIONALS FROM THE WEYMOUTH CLUB.
PETERSEN SPLASH PAD AT WATSON PARK. THE SPLASH PAD WILL OPEN ON MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 29TH FROM 12PM TO 5PM. THE SPLASH PAD WILL OPERATE ON A WEEKEND SCHEDULE THROUGH JUNE 23RD, 12PM TO 5PM AND RESUME FULL DAILY OPERATION ON SATURDAY, JUNE 24TH, 10AM to 7PM.
NON-BRAINTREE RESIDENTS USING THE SPLASH PAD MUST PARK THEIR VEHICLES AT THE SMITH BEACH PARKING LOT LOCATED ON EDGEHILL ROAD AND VINEDALE ROAD. ACCESS TO THE SPLASH PAD VIA THE FRANCIS J. TOLAND WALKWAY CONNECTING SMITH BEACH TO WATSON PARK.
GROUPS OF TWELVE OR MORE USING THE SPLASH PAD MUST PROVIDE THE RECREATION OFFICE WITH A MINIMUM OF TEN (10) DAYS ADVANCE NOTICE.
ENTERTAINING FOR A CURE PERFORMANCE ARTS CLASSES (EFAC PAC) - Open to students in grades K-12 and includes instruction in singing, movement, ballroom dance, acting, improvisation, a cappella, beatboxing and NEW THIS YEAR: bucket drumming! Prior experience is not required, but students should enjoy music and performing.Workshops, skits and fun activities are tailored each week to the ability of the participants, and students of all levels are challenged and grouped appropriately. There will be two week-long sessions, 7/10-7/14 and 7/17-7/21, Monday through Friday, held at Grove Manor Estates, Braintree from 10am-3pm. JUNIOR FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC - Open to students in grades 6-8. Introduce new players to the game of field hockey or a great opportunity for players with some experience to improve their skills. Players will learn fundamental skills in small groups, drills and games. Join varsity coach Amanda Scully with current and former BHS players to see what field hockey is all about! August 8,10,15,17 at Braintree High School back turf field. Cost of the clinic is $40. For registration and information, please contact Amanda Scully at firstname.lastname@example.org. All players must wear shin guards, mouth guards and goggles. Some sticks are available to borrow. Please note if a player requires a stick.
BRAINTREE TRACK CLUB - Open to children in grades K-8. The program will operate Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Braintree High School Track, July 6th - July 27th from 6pm--7pm for kindergarten thru grade 3 and 7pm-8pm for grades 4-8. Registration is by mail until May 31, 2017 at a cost of $30 per child with a family maximum of $75.00. Children pre-registered by May 31st will receive a t-shirt to be picked up at Braintree High School on June 27th from 6pm-7:30pm. Walk-in registration is the same night, June 27th, Rain or Shine, at Braintree High School. Registration this night will incur a $5.00 late fee per child and are not guaranteed a t-shirt. SAIL PLUS MARITIME PROGRAM @WESSAGUSSETT YACHT CLUB - Braintree Recreation In collaboration with the Braintree Yacht Club (BYC), Metropolitan Yacht club and the Wessagussett Yacht Club (WYC) offers a junior sailing program for Braintree children ages 8 to 16 at the Wessagussett Yacht Club in Weymouth.The sailing program is five (5) days per week for eight (8) weeks from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Session 1 begins June 26th and concludes July 21st. Session 2 begins July 24th and concludes August 18th. Cost per session is at the WYC social member price of $450 or $800 for the full summer program. Each participant will be involved in two activities each day of which one will be sailing. Other activities include: core sailing, sailing advanced, swimming, island exploring, rowing, paddleboarding, harbor ecology, junior lobsterman, kayaking, junior fishing, club regattas, etc. For questions and information, visit WYC's website, www.wyc-online.org or call Program Director Jim Bennette directly at 781-367-8204. STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING - Braintree resident and well-known stand up paddleboard surf competitor and instructor, Stacey Mac, will be running Stand Up Paddleboard classes for students ages 8 and older at Sunset Lake. Students will not only learn how to use the board, paddle and equipment, but also will learn water safety and more advanced techniques in paddling. There are two sessions available: July 10, 12, 13 and August 21, 23, 24, 9:30am to 10:30am, at a cost of $95.00 per session. All equipment will be provided. Each session is limited to 8. SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM - SIX WEEK PROGRAM BEGINNING JUNE 26TH. OUR SUMMERTIME SPECIAL NEEDS DAY ACTIVITY PROGRAM PROVIDES AN ORGANIZED, HEALTHY RECREATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIFIC SPECIAL NEEDS. PROGRAM WILL BE BASED OUT OD SOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WILL OPERATE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8:30AM TO 2:30PM. NO ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM. REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE AND MUST BE COMPLETED AND ON FILE AT THE RECREATION OFFICE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 16, 2017.
BRAINTREE COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER SUMMER FUN WEEKS - Arts & crafts, hands on projects and activities for children entering grades 3 to 6 at the Braintree Community Arts Center, 1969 Washington Street, Braintree, Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. Cost per child is $160.00 per week.
July 17th - July 20th: "Wet and Wild" - theme is based on "Under the Sea" or "Into the Jungle".
July 24th - July 27th: "Lost in Boston's Beauty" - theme is based on famous landmarks, sports teams and all other things Boston.
July 31st - August 3rd: "Trash Bash" - theme is art projects using recycled materials.
August 7th - August 10th: "Disney World, Swirled and Pearled" - theme is all Disney related.
August 14th - August 18th, 1:15pm to 4:15pm: "Adventures in Space with Dave Heshion" for children who are presently enrolled in grades 1 to 5. Space is limited to 25. Learn about flying, both in and out of the Earth's atmosphere. Find out what it is like to live and work in space. Design your own space station, Moon Base or Mars Base. See how rockets work from the ground up by building and launching your own model rocket. Cost per child is $130.00.
