Special Needs Summer Program
Our summertime special needs day activity program provides an organized, healthy recreational program for Braintree residents who have specific special needs. Individuals with physical, mental, emotional or developmental disabilities are given the opportunity to experience healthy activities suited to your child’s particular needs, while interacting with our caring staff under the direction of long time program supervisor Marty Wetzel.
General Information
- To apply, the application below and the addiional registration form along with a Registration fee of $50 and Payment of $350 to the Braintree Recreation Department office on or before June 18th Parental/guardian consent, medical clearance and other pertinent information must be provided to make your application complete.
- A weekly calendar of scheduled daily activities will be sent home one week in advance to inform parents of the schedule, which will include swimming, field trips, special events, and numerous gross motor play sessions. These activities are geared toward providing an attractive, well rounded recreational experience this summer, with fun being the goal for all participant.
- Individuals must be toilet trained.
- Parents are reminded that they must call the Braintree Recreation Department office (781-794-8903) by 8:30 a.m. should your child not be attending the program on any given day during the six week period.
- Our staff will be sensitive to meeting your individual child’s needs provided you share your thoughts and requests with the staff during the summer.

Fee Information
- Due to budgetary constraints imposed upon all town departments again this summer, we regret the need to impose a registration fee of $50.00 for each child in addition to a $50.00 weekly payment to cover the program’s consumable costs, such as beverages, admissions, food supplies and other program essentials.
- A check payment in full for the amount of $350.00, and made payable to the TOWN OF BRAINTREE, should accompany your registration form.
- Transportation costs for this program have obviously gone way up since last summer, so we regret the necessary increase in cost. It costs out to be less than $12/day/ child.
